Water fun

Here is Luke playing in the water and having a blast. It's not too hot yet. About 100 during the day, but it's a "dry heat"!! hahaha! (My mom thinks that is funny & ridiculous to say) It really is not that bad. Ask me in a month or so when it is 113 and I'll have a different story!

This is when we went back to Texas for Memorial weekend. We went to Juven's parents house and my family drove out to see us. It was so great to see everyone! The pic above is movie time. I was on the bed with them, but obviously did not fit so thought we needed a pic of it!

We got the kids a slip n slide at Grandma's house. fun, fun, fun!

Luke and Austin relaxing in the swing. My family will be here in about 10 days! I can't wait!! We are going to spend a few days at the Grand Canyon relaxing and enjoying the beauty. Maybe it won't take me a month to update next time.

Grass, picinic, & Uncle Bud

We are headed off to Texas today and I am soooooooo excited. We will be going to Juven's parents house and my family will be joining us. I can not wait to see everyone!!!!! It has been way too long since our last visit.

Here are some pics of Juven and Luke laying our sod for our yard a couple of weeks ago. It was hard work but it looks so great now. It was really nice yesterday when we had a wind storm to not have that dirt flying everywhere and into my house.

This is Luke at a neighborhood cook out we had at one of our parks.
Here is Luke with Uncle Bud. He came to Phoenix for a business trip and we got to go out to dinner with him. It was so nice to have family here!!

Silly boy

These pics are just some random pics of Luke being silly. If you are wondering about the q-tips in his toes-well, that is from Toy Story 2. Woody gets a make over by an expert toy cleaner and he uses q-tips to help clean Woody. Hence- the q-tips. Why they are in the toes-- I have no idea!!

It's been a while!

Wow! I am wayyyy behind. Got a lot of catching up to do.

I spent a couple of days painting 2 walls in the living room "painted turtle". I always like to go with beige colors, but with our views of brown mountains, brown houses, and brown dirt outside these windows we felt we probably needed to go with another color. It actually has turned out nicely. The room was very bright with the light color flooring, so many windows, and white walls that it needed to be warmed up a bit.

Here are our samples from our "rock shopping". I think we will go with the "Apache Rose" on the far left.

Here is the concrete mixer backing through our utility gate to pour our patio. This was quite an exciting thing for Luke as he is really into all type of "work" trucks.

Concrete being laid and smoothed out. Our grass was delivered last night about 2 am. It was like Christmas for Juven. I heard the truck pull up and woke Juven up. He went and peeked out the window and couldn't go back to sleep once it was dropped off. He made me go outside with him to look at it and "touch"it!

Here is a BEAUTIFUL lake we found recently. Saguaro Lake. We ate lunch at the resaurant overlooking the water. Can you say BOAT FEVER??!!

Here is a river just south of the lake where people fish, swim, or float. Luke said he wanted to get his feet wet, but as soon as we got in he was not so excited about it.

We went to Palm Springs and Yuma last week with Juven for work so he wouldn't have to travel alone. Palm Springs is beautiful. Mountains, palm trees, beautiful flowers, beautiful weather. People- not so nice. I hope I don't affend anyone, but my experience with California so far is that it is way over rated. I acutally hated it. The people are rude, everything is expensive, and the entire time I was there I felt I had to constantly be looking over my shoulder. It was nice to visit and be able to say I had been there, but I don't want to go back anytime soon and I could definately not live there. San Diego last fall was a little better, but I still was not blown away from it like I thought I would be.
These are pics of just driving down the street in Palm Springs. It is georgous.

Once back on the way from Palm Springs to Yuma, you get this. Sand dunes. It is right by the Mexico boarder and the boarder patrol is very heavy. Juven and I were having a discussion about why would it be so heavy? How could anyone make it through the sand dunes especially in the heat? Come to find out this area is one of the most common crossings for illegal immigrants. The boarder patrol catches about 500 people A DAY!!!!! and that is only about 23% of how many people are crossing A DAY!!! Crazzzyyy!!!
Well, think I'm about done for now. Hopefully it won't take me so long next time.

True Love

I've always know how loved I am by my husband, but he proved it again this weekend. On Saturday night I fell asleep with Luke while trying to get him to bed and was awakened by Juven shaking me. He said, "Just Timberlake and Kermit the Frog are on Saturday Night Live." I immediately jumped out of bed, which is very rare for me, especially once down for the night) and ran to see. Justin and Kermit were singing a duet on a re-run of SNL on the E channel. I'm sure you all know what a Justin FREAK I am and as a child was also in love with Kermit. WOW! my two favorite celebrities! Don't get much better than that. How thoughtful of Juven to think of me knowing what a bear I am to wake up!! Yep, he truely loves me!!!!!

Rock shopping

What an adjustment moving out of Texas has been!!! We went "rock shopping" today!!! We are in the process of landscaping our backyard and had to go pick out what type of rocks we wanted. Leaving the "rock" place. Juven looked at me and said, "We just went shopping for rocks." Weird!! There is all different types, colors, and sizes. In Texas everyone's yard is grass basically from one side of the yard to the other. NOOOO, not here. If you are brave enough to put in grass it usually is a small patch just to ad color and then you put in what is called "curbing". Basically what that is - well just like it sounds- it looks like a curb but is the border for flower "shrubbery" beds. You then fill in the curbing with the rocks and what ever type of dessert folaidge you decide on. I know I need pictures, but it is late, dark, and I need to update. I'll add pics later.
Also- we have learned what a "drip system" is. It is a system tied into the sprinklers that water the plants in your rocks. It has small tubing buried underground that comes up at each plant with a little spout on the end to water the plants and not waste water I guess. Still such a learning experience. I miss my Texas days of putting the sprinkler out myself and moving it every 15 to 20 minutes. But -OHHH NOOO!!! not here. EVERY yard has a sprinkler and drip system. We actually are having to put the system in the backyard ( already in the front) and I offered to do the watering myself, but (I'm sure this summer when it is 110 degrees at 7 A.M. I'll be thankful) I was shot down.
I am soooo happy to be in my new home though!!!!! We have finally slowed down. NO house hunting, packing, or pains of moving again for a while ( I hope)!! I love our neighborhood, street, and house. It is soo great to let Luke go play in the backyard and not worry!! We have great neighbors and an great mountain view from our kitchen.
Well, better wrap it up. Will have some pics of the "rocks" and "drip system" next time.
LOVE YA'LL!!

Easter and The Grand Canyon

Well we are moved in and unpacked! Mom came for Easter and we had a nice quiet visit. We went to Sedona Easter Sunday and came across an Easter service in the middle of a beautiful courtyard in the Sedona art district.

The Robertson's came last week and we took them to Jerome, Sedona, and the Grand Canyon. We had a wonderful time and the boys had so much fun together!

There was still snow at the Grand Canyon and it was cold and the wind was blowing about 30 mph. It actually snowed on us a little. The cold didn't damper our trip though. It was such as amazing sight to see.
